YOKO TANAKA was born in 1947 and died at the age of 61 in 2008. Woodblocks by this artist are extremely difficult to find with a very few offered via international woodblock auction houses and one or two retrospective exhibitions held at large Tokyo Galleries where examples owned by private collectors are displayed. They are of low numbered limited editions which were quickly purchased by local Japanese art collectors when first created and a prime art investment. Most of her woodblock prints are over painted to add dimension and focus after the woodblock prints were created.
