SANO, HIROAKI was born in Tokyo in 1972 and studied at the Tama Art University. She has won a number of awards at various exhibitions and her Woodblock Prints are held in Collections at the Tama Art Museum, Tokyo, The Setsuryosha Museum in Niagata and The Fermignano Museum in Italy. She is one of the most highly respected modern Woodblock Artists.

SHOSON, OHARA was born in 1877 with the name Ohara Matao in the city of Kanazawa. Early in his life he studied Shijo painting with the artists Susuki Kason and changed his name to Koson, in recognition of his master. Around 1900 Ohara obtained a teaching position at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts and began sending his bird and flower paintings to the USA where he quickly gained recognition. In 1912 with a growing international audience, he changed his name again, this time to Shoson, and focused all his energies on Woodblock prints with nature themes. He lived until 1945.

MOGI, TERUKO was born in Hyogo Province in 1935 and his early history is quite obscure. His skill in woodblock printing grew as he studied and he was accepted as a member of the Chikurin-kai Artists Group. His work shows a unique style and very fine understanding of colour.

NENJIRO INAGAKI was Born in Kyoto in 1902 and Lived Until 1963. He Graduated from the Kyoto Municipal Fine Art School in 1922. He has Received a Number of Special Prizes at Bunten in 1941, 1943 and 1946, Was Appointed a Member of Nitten Jury in 1959 and Made a Professor at the Kyoto Municipal University of Fine Art in 1962. Several of His Works are on Permanent Display at the Tokyo National Museum, The New York Museum of Modern Art and at Museums in Chigago and Los Angeles.

KYOSAI KAWANABE Lived from 1831 to 1889. He was the son of a Samurai. He was a Skilled Artist and as a Child Joined the School of Kuniyoshi. Among his many works there are some Comic Scenes but his Skill Depicting Nature was Unsurpassed. He is said to have had a strong Liking for Sake.
