UTAGAWA YOSHITORA was a student of Kuniyoshi who only worked between 1840 and the early 1870s Most of his scenes show historical incidents and legends. Like all Woodblock Artists from the 19th Century he created his own versions of some of the older series but his work is uniquely individual in style and displays his artistic amazing insight and creativity.

DATED: Two round Nanushi Censor Seals only used between 1847 to 1853 above the artist’s signature in the pink ground cartouche in right hand side of scene with the full description of the scene in the red ground panel below.
AUTHENTICATION: Yellow Ground rectangular cartouche show full scene description in left of scene with similar panels showing the names of the famous warriors.
